Solo Campervan Hire Scotland

Discover Dumfries with the Freedom of a Campervan

Scotland is one of the best places in the world to travel solo — and doing it in a campervan makes it even better. No compromise on where you stop, how long you stay, or which road you take next. Just you, the open road, and some of the most dramatic scenery on the planet.

At Staycation Scotland Campers, we welcome solo travellers and our vans are perfectly suited to going it alone. Most of our campervans sleep 2–4, which means as a solo traveller you have generous space all to yourself — a proper bed, a kitchen, and a cosy home base wherever you park up.

Scotland’s wild camping laws are among the most generous in Europe. Under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, you have the right to wild camp almost anywhere — meaning you can stop at a loch-side view, a mountain pass, or a remote beach without booking ahead. For solo travellers, this freedom is unbeatable.

Our vans come with complimentary in-van WiFi, so you can stay connected when you want to, and go off-grid when you don’t. We include everything you need — bedding, kitchen kit, camping chairs — so you can travel light and leave the logistics to us.

Where to Go as a Solo Traveller

The NC500 is the classic choice — 516 miles of coastal Highland road taking in Inverness, Durness, Applecross and the Isle of Skye. Most solo travellers do it in 7–10 days, but there’s no rule. The Isle of Skye alone could fill a week. The Cairngorms offer something wilder and quieter. The West Coast road through Oban and Glencoe is another favourite.

Practical Info for Solo Hirers

There’s no single supplement. You pay for the van, not the number of people in it. A standard UK driving licence is all you need. We’re based in Clydebank (Glasgow) and pickup is straightforward — we’ll walk you through everything before you set off.
